Nichols & Shepard Undetermined

1898 Nichols and Shepard Co. Traction engine Owner purchased the 1898 Nichols and Shepard Steam Tractor at an Auction in Eastern Oregon in 2002.  Owner states: I was told is a 14 or 16 HP single cylinder. Tractor weighs about 14-15 thousand pounds. When I spoke to the original owners, they had said that it was restored and the boiler was rebuilt in 1983.  I did have the name of the Forge company but they went out of Business in 1988 I believe they were in Illinois about 15 years ago I started working on getting the tractor certified to operate. I had a couple of gentleman Volunteers from the Roots of Motive Power Museum in Willits  Ca.  They water tested the boiler to 150 PSI and was sound.  The Governor and the pressure gauge to Bay Boiler in San Fransisco  to be tested both tested within one pound of factory settings.  Governor was reset to 75 PSI as the unit would operate in a parade.  Unfortunately, when I had the state come to do the inspection, they could not find the tri-Clover stamp to Certify the boiler to operate in California. so, I lost the drive to get it finished so here it sits on cement pad for the past 10 years and would love for it to find a good home for someone to maybe finish it to is original state.  Its 100% complete.
