Great Plains Manufacturing was established in 1976 by founder Roy Applequist in Salina, Kansas, with seeding equipment in the initial product line. In the 1980s, Great Plains developed no-till drills, and in the 1990s, the company began producing twin-row planters with advanced design to handle narrower rows in fields.
