ANALYSIS, EQUIPMENT VALUES
This What’s It Worth? analysis was sent in from Jon S., a dairy farmer, out of Pennsylvania.
Jon is considering selling or trading in his Bobcat skid steer – a 2019 model S770 with about 2,000 hours and standard bucket attachment.
Before he makes a decision, he wants to know what it’s worth to see what he might expect to receive if he sells at an upcoming auction or as a trade-in at his local dealership.
An analysis of the Tractor Zoom Pro database reports an average auction sale price of $27,241 based on 96 sale results for Bobcat S770 skid steers going back to 2018.
Filtering down to those that are closer in age to Jon’s model, we find that Bobcat S770s manufactured in 2019 that have between 2,000 and 3,000 hours have an increased average auction value of $38,750, based on two recent comparable sales.
Jon has been the only owner of his S770 and has put about 2,000 hours on the machine. He knows the used equipment market is hot right now, especially for skid steers, so he’s hoping to catch a premium price for his equipment. In March, a similar S770 sold for $37,500 at auction in Pennsylvania!
Reviewing dealership list prices on 5/16/2023, we see the historic average list price of a Bobcat S770 skid steer at a dealership is $42,590 based on 233 dealer listings going back to May 2022.
As of this article publishing, Tractor Zoom currently has three active Bobcat S770 skid steers featured on the website, with an average list price of $42,798.
The chart above illustrates the seasonal dip in skid steer values right around January and a spike in July 2022, which was due to new users onboarded to Tractor Zoom. Otherwise, we see steady growth in dealer list values for skid steers.
It’s important to note that the above is not a complete evaluation or valid estimate of Jon’s skid steer. Additional information on Jon’s Bobcat, such as condition, track tread, or hydraulic hookups, will influence the estimated value.
