In the early part of the 20th century, Deere & Co. continued to expand its business into tractors with the purchase of the Waterloo Gasoline Engine Company in 1918, selling the Waterloo Boy tractor as its primary model. The Model D, introduced in 1923, was the first of Deere’s highly successful line of two-cylinder tractors. Several years later, the company again broadened its horizons with the introduction of harvesting equipment.

In the 1960’s and 70’s, John Deere emerged as an industry leader, building high-quality, innovative machinery for modern agriculture operations all over the world. By the late 1990’s, the company would become America’s largest ag equipment manufacturer and wouldn’t stop there. Today, John Deere is the largest ag equipment manufacturer in the world.
