In 1930, the Claas brothers sold their 10,000th straw binder and had established a strong foundation to become one of the world’s leading manufacturers of agricultural engineering equipment.

Inspired by their success with the straw binder, the Claas brothers turned their attention to combine harvesters used on American farms in order to develop the technology for European farming conditions.

With the addition of Walter Brenner to the CLAAS team, the company began developing a mower-thresher-binder and debuted the machine to the market for the 1936 harvest season. After several iterations of the mower-thresher-binder and much success over time, CLAAS became the leading combine harvester manufacturer in the European market. CLAAS set its sights on boosting production capacity and expanding distribution in the 1950s, and became one of the biggest players on the international agricultural equipment stage.

In addition to mowers, balers, headers, and self-propelled forage wagons, CLAAS expanded its product line to include its first tractor, which debuted to the market in 2003.
