Wieman Land & Auction is a third generation family owned and operated company based in Marion, South Dakota. Founded by Earl Wieman in 1949, Earl was working as farmer near Canistota, South Dakota when he decided to extend his business into the auctioneering world.
Today, Wieman Land & Auction is run by Earl’s family and includes 21 full-time employees. While the company has grown over the past 70 years, Earl’s legacy lives on in the people that represent the company. Earl’s beliefs of maintaining one’s word as their bond, and the power of a handshake, still live on in the company as values to live by.
Gary and Rich Wieman, Earl’s two sons, joined the company after completing auction school in 1967 and 1974, respectively. Today, Gary’s two sons, Kevin and Mike, as well as Rich’s two sons, Ryan and Derek, are all employed at Wieman Land & Auction. Wieman Land & Auction now employs seven full time auctioneers, six real estate sales personnel, two real estate brokers, and three full time clerks along with other part-time auction support personnel.
Wieman Machinery Auction is a subsidiary of Wieman Land & Auction, and was created when Marlo Wieman moved his implement dealership to the Wieman Land & Auction lot in 1994. Wieman Machinery Auction is a non-franchise farm equipment dealership—trading, buying and selling equipment daily. Today, Wieman hosts five farm equipment consignment auctions annually and several online only farm machinery auctions at their machinery lot.
Wieman Auction is comprised of several parts, including a repair and body shop, a trucking company, as well as their full service auction company offers traditional live auctions, live auctions with online bidding incorporated, and timed internet only auctions.
